Build your own port from scratch and make it prosper.
Explore the map to find islands to loot resources from.
Since the beginning of time, shipping has been an important lifeline for civilizations. Without seagoing trade, land-locked nations and settlements will not be able to obtain for themselves the resources that they need but cannot produce on their own.
Now, it takes a lot of skill to administrate your own shipping, and that’s what you can learn for yourself here in Seaport. This is a virtual world that lets you command your own fleet of trading ships, and send them wherever they will need to be in order to find essential resources for harvesting.
Is the game for free? Absolutely! Just log in to your Facebook account, and you can find the game there. There might be some micro-transactions possible, wherein you purchase in-game items using your bank account. However, that’s totally voluntary and is not a requisite for creating an account in the game.
Okay, when you begin, you only have one ship trading ship, one fishing boat, a Level 1 port, 1 Town Hall and 1 Sawmill to play with. There’s no tutorial here, unfortunately, but you can take some clues as to what you should do by going to the Achievements window. Look for the Star icon at the upper left portion of the screen, and click it.
Use all of your ships to gather the necessary resources for your port and village. How do you do that? Click on your very first ship, and click on the Steering Wheel icon. This effectively commands your ship to Set Sail. After clicking the icon, you will be taken to the World Map, where you can select the places that you want your supply ships to travel.
Each island provides a specific resource for your port. It is indicated by an icon above the island’s name: a log symbolizes wood, a piece of stone indicates a quarry, and gold coins signify that the island returns a harvest of money.
There is no need to monitor your ships while they are en route to their destinations. They will travel and return on their own, and all you need to focus on is your port.
You can send your fishing boats to travel a short distance from your fish port to collect food. Food is the main resource here in Seaport. It can be exchanged for wood, especially when you’re upgrading or building a structure.
In addition to sending your ships to expeditions to collect resources, you can produce your own Stone and Wood via the Sawmill and Quarry, which you can build from the Building menu. You can upgrade these up to 5 stars; each level will increase the amount of resources they can produce, but also increase the production time altogether.
Watch out for the lighthouse icon! When it appears, it means that your ships have returned and will weigh anchor soon. You’ll then be able to collect their haul. Afterwards, you can send them to a new mission or have them dock to free other ships to join your fleet. Depending on the level of your port, you can only send a specific number of ships to expeditions.
Keep an eye out for boxes and crates that appear at random. They are free loot given to you by drunken sailors who lose their way. Sometimes, you can also recruit these sailors to your navy.
All in all, Seaport is a fast-paced and exciting virtual world simulator that you will certainly want to give a try. What’s there to stop you anyway? The game’s for free!
