Text-based role playing games will never be out of the market. City of Love: Paris is but one of those titles in the genre that shows people that a good story will always trump flashy graphics and high-definition resolution.
This game makes full use of the all-too-familiar “choose your own” adventure format. In here, your task is to make decisions in response to events that take place in the game. You don’t make decisions lightly – some responses to conversations can affect your relationships with the other characters. This, of course, will influence the flow of the story and the outcome.
While some critical decision-making points in the game seem obvious, others are more subtle. A simple conversation can actually be very crucial to the flow of the story. It’s just like what life is in reality; a seemingly trivial decision you make can actually have an impact on your life later on.
To make a decision, you simply need to tap and hold down your finger on the response that you want to make to a character. You don’t just tap lightly once; you have to wait for a few seconds with your finger on the option in order for the response to be made.
Relationship-changing responses are revealed when the game shows you what the other character feels about the answer. It could either say “[Character] liked that” or “[Character] did not like that.”
The game is divided into chapters. Each chapter takes just a few minutes, and automatically saves your progress in between. Thus, you can easily go back to the game.
City of Love: Paris also employs an energy-based system. Each decision that you make consumes Energy. With so many interactions you go through, you could eat up your decisions in just half an hour after you start playing the game.
There is no need to worry, of course, as the game quickly recharges your Energy so you can continue the story. One still needs to take a break in between games after all, so you can rest and do other stuff while you wait for your energy to recharge.
The game will give you a notification once your Energy has been replenished so you can continue playing, if you want to.
If you want to receive some freebies from the developers of the game, you can invite Facebook friends to go over to iTunes or Google Play Store and install the app on their mobile devices.
Don’t worry about having to make a prior purchase, because the game is totally for free. As long as you have enough space on your mobile device, you can install City of Love: Paris without a problem.
Just make sure to keep your device connected to the Internet while you play. It needs to connect to the server to load the scenes you’ll be playing in.
