Hire guides to uncover new touristy locations and you may even unearth some intriguing mystery about the island you now inhabit. What are you waiting for? Pack your bags, escape from the constant hum of city life and head over to the tropics to start anew!
Being a farm simulation game, Farmville: Tropic Escape features gameplay that Farmville fans might be very familiar with – the virtual farming aspect of the game. All you need to do is to plant a crop, wait for it to grow and then harvest. There are plenty of tropical crop and tree variety as well. The game has also adopted a game mechanic that’s pretty popular in the more recent farm simulation games like Funky Bay - you don’t need to purchase seeds. Instead, you are required to save up some of your harvest for replanting.
The crops you get can then be crafted into various foodstuff and other items through workshops like the Sushi Stall, Tiki Bar and more. By default, you’ll get 2 queue slots per workshop but you can easily buy more slots using gems. Despite being premium currency, gems are surprisingly easy enough to earn in this game. This speaks volumes of Zynga’s generosity to its players, but this doesn’t mean you can spend your gems willy-nilly and still expect to have tons of them left.
Aside from crafting, the crops are also needed to feed your farm animals too. Like crops, there is a nice range of animals that you can eventually have on your island. However, some ingredients, such as crabs, can only be obtained through certain expeditions that you can send your hired guides on. Guides are also needed to uncover specific locations around the island and its surrounding areas. All of these items are stored in either the silo (crops only) or the boathouse (crafted goods and animal produce).
There’s no point in hoarding up goods without having customers to buy them! You can trade away your products with other players via the Trade Boat or by completing Orders. You’ll get quests, all of which are listed neatly in your Clipboard, to complete as well. These quests mainly function to advance the narrative in the game.
The game even features a wide range of decorations which you can use to spruce up the place. Need more space to put all that décor? Well, once you reach level 10, you’ll be able to buy additional plots of land, but naturally, you will still need certain tools to clear away some debris on the land.
Farmville: Tropic Escape is also a social farm game and as such, players are encouraged to join an Island Beach Club, or create one, once they reach level 5. This is not only a great way to meet new friends through the club’s chatting system; you can also get guests for your island resort and trade goods between members. Adding friends in this game is mutually beneficial as well since various items can be gifted among friends.
The game features more artsy graphics and has done particularly well when it comes to the “little things”. I like that the water splashes when I tap on any body of water. In terms of sound, this game has some brilliant soundtracks that are soothing to listen to. The sound effect added to various workshops is a very nice touch too.
All in all, Farmville: Tropic Escape is definitely a fantastic addition to the popular Farmville franchise. Being an ex-avid Farmville player myself, I can say for a fact that the game has greatly evolved since its very first game, incorporating new game mechanics from other farm sims while adding a bit of their own flavor and flair to the game. If you’re a huge fan of farm simulations, you won’t want to miss out on this game. Try it now!
